C., WED., APRIL 22, 1942 Plans for Fourth Registration The following registration plac es will be available for registrants in the fourth registration on April 27th. These places will be fn from 7 a. m., to 9 a. m. All | born on or after April 28, 7, and on or before February 16, 1897, are required to register. Green’s Creek Township: S. L. Fagan, chief registrar, and assist ants will conduct the registration in the school house. Cpoper’s Gap Township: Vern on Wilson, chief registrar, and assistants will conduct the regis tration in Wilson’s store. White Oak Township: J. H. Gibbs, chief registrar, and assis tants will conduct the registration in the school house. Columbus Township: R. S. Mc Farland, chief registrar, and as sistants will conduct the registra tion in the Court House. Saluda Township: Roy Baisden, j chief registrar, and assistants will conduct the registration in the : school house. fon Township: Mrs. Helen _ lard, chief registrar, an^ as sistants will conduct the registra tion in the office of the Polk Coun ty Local Board in Jackson’s store, Tryon. Merchants Meet Friday Tryon Merchants association will hold a supper meeting Friday night at 7:30 at Stannydale. R. E. Brantley is president. Reserva tions may be telephoned to No. 37. To Modernize and Refinance Loans, Says Local Officer M. R. McCown, secretary-treas urer of the Tryon Federal Savings and Loan Association, who attend ed a recent meeting of the North Carolina Building and Loan League at Raleigh, says the League plans for their annual convention _ to be held at Blowing Rock, June 16 to 18, to consider building problems in relation to war. Mr. McCown who is a member of the Legislative committee of the League, states that defense priori ties are reducing the possibility of new building, and that building and loan efforts are being direct ed towar^ modernizing and re finance loans. There are 155,000 shareholders, with $121,000,000 in vested in the 176 associations of the state. F. P. Bacon is presi dent and W. S. Green, vice-presi dent of the Tryon association. NEXT TO TELEVISION Someday television sets will be in Tryon and maybe the house wives will be able to “tune in” and see what local merchants carry in stock: the new vegetables and fruits just arrived, and the cloth ing and shoes and furniture and thousands of things sold in stores; but until that time comes, many housekeepers will depend upon the Bulletin to keep them informed on the new things sold in Tryon stores. With tire rationing getting harder all the time there will be less traveling and more dependence upon the Bulletin. If you have something to sell that will be of benefit to the customer, telephone the Bulletin today. It is the cheapest way and gets quickest results.
